Wellbeing Newsletter 4

In the last newsletter we reported on the successful launch of this website. We now have useful statistical feedback data from Google Analytics on site access. The first site visit occurred on December 7, 2011, and the information provided below runs through to February 2, 2012.

During this period:

  • 402      Unique visitors accessed the site.
  • 647      Separate visits.
  • 2,118   Page views.
  • 3.27     Page views per visit.
  • 2.24     Average time (minutes) per visit.
  • 36.32   Percentage of new visitors.

This is very encouraging feedback and clearly indicates the site is being accessed. Of those who have accessed the site 37.09% made direct access - with 31.99% and 30.10% accessing the site through referring sites or search engines, respectively.

You can help to socialise the site with teachers and parents, across Christchurch, to support children and young people.

Some ideas that have been suggested include: 

  • Providing a direct link to the Wellbeing site from your School or Early Childhood Website,
  • Promoting the Website in newsletters and correspondence to Parents, 
  • Encourage staff and parents to subscribe to this newsletter through the Website, 
  • Discussing and showing the Website to staff at a staff meeting,
  • Sharing the bookmark idea with staff and parents (see below), and
  • Asking staff to include a by line in their email signature for example www.wellbeing.tki.org.nz  Supporting children and young people in Canterbury

Rony Berger ERASE Stress Training - The ERASE-Stress Training programme is now underway. We have been fortunate to have had three training courses provided by Rony Berger. Over 120 people have been trained in ERASE- Stress, including school staff, RTLB, Ministry of Education staff, School Guidance Councillors,CAMHS staff and staff from a range of NGO’s. 

The ERASE-Stress programme is a teacher run 12 session school based intervention, with class groups, but is also suitable as a group based intervention for children oryoung people in other settings. ERASE – Stress is designed for children and adolescents who are suffering different types of emotional distress after the Canterbury earthquakes.

Rony is a senior clinical psychologist and family and child therapist, is on the faculty of Emergency Medicine at Ben Gurion University, and the faculty of Stress, Crisis, and Trauma programme at Tel Aviv University. He is Director of the Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Unit at Brit Olam, an International Relief organisation, and also a Fellow in Psychology Beyond Borders, a humanitarian organisation which aims to alleviate suffering in the aftermath of traumatic events.
